The special Bastrop City Council meeting is scheduled for September 29, 2026 at 5:30 PM in the City Council Chambers at Bastrop City Hall, 1311 Chestnut Street, Bastrop, TX 78602. City Council meetings are available regardless of disability. For special assistance, contact the City Secretary at (512) 332-8800, write to 1311 Chestnut Street, 78602, or call through T.D.D. Relay Texas at 1-800-735-2989 at least 48 hours before the meeting. Anyone attending who wants to address Council must complete a citizen comment form and give it to the City Secretary before the meeting starts. If unable to attend, comments may be submitted at CITYOFBASTROP.ORG/CITIZENCOMMENT at least two hours before the meeting starts; timely submitted comments will be given to Council and included in the public record, but not read aloud. In-person citizen comments are limited to three minutes per individual, may be on any topic, and speakers will be asked whether they are City of Bastrop residents or non-residents. For items not on the agenda, Council cannot discuss the issue or make a decision at that time; it is limited to a factual statement or existing policy response, and issues may be referred to the City Manager for research and possible future action. Profanity, physical threats, or other threats are not allowed and may cause the speaker to lose comment time; if disruptive to business, the speaker could be removed. The workshop will discuss ways to support and promote live music in Bastrop, including possible city initiatives, partnerships, events, venues, and other strategies to encourage a local music community and opportunities for residents, visitors, and local businesses. Council will consider and may act on Resolution R-2026-137 to approve a professional services contract with The Goodman Corporation for the Blakey Lane Extension project, not to exceed $540,045.00, and receive direction regarding the project design. Council will consider and may act on Resolution R-2026-139 supporting legislation that would allow a property owner to remove property from an emergency services district when a municipality can provide equal or better fire and emergency service at a lower tax rate; the item also would approve a joint letter to Texas legislators, authorize the Mayor and Council Members to sign it, and provide an effective date. All agenda items are eligible for discussion and action unless specifically stated otherwise, and the City Council may adjourn into executive session during the meeting to discuss listed matters as authorized by the cited Texas Government Code provisions. The meeting notice was posted at the entrance to Bastrop City Hall and on www.cityofbastrop.org on September 23, 2026 at 6:30 p.m., and remained posted for at least two hours after the meeting was convened.
